The 2016 Awards coincides with the revival of the country’s real estate sector
Vietnam Property Awards 2016 launch

Building on the tremendous success of its debut event in 2015, Vietnam’s most recognised and respected real estate awards programme – the Vietnam Property Awards – is once again expected to bring together the leading developers and developments from around the country.

Supported by platinum sponsor Hansgrohe, a leading global manufacturer of innovative and designer bathroom products, with gold sponsor Brandt and silver sponsor Teka, the second annual Vietnam Property Awards has already started receiving nominations from developers and the general public, with the final shortlist to be unveiled on 9 May 2016, and the Winners rewarded at a glittering black-tie awards gala on Friday, 10 June, at the InterContinental Asiana Saigon, official hotel venue of the gala. The event will be preceded by the Property Report Congress 2016 at the same venue to discuss the progress of the local real estate sector.

A pre-launch party for the Awards, which is part of Ensign Media’s acclaimed Asia Property Awards series, was held on Tuesday night, 1 December 2015, at the Ly Club Saigon, one of Ho Chi Minh City’s best reviewed all-day restaurants. The official press launch followed in the morning of 2 December at the InterContinental Asiana Saigon, with panelists Terry Blackburn, CEO of Ensign Media, awards organiser; Tran The Cuong of Hansgrohe; Luong Vinh Ha of Brandt; Chau Tu of the independent panel of judges; and Jeffrey Ong Peng Lock of BDO Vietnam.

All eyes are on Vietnam’s recovering real estate sector, which had languished in the past several years. Upon the opening of the market last July with the implementation of the Law on Residential Housing, analysts have been optimistic about the continued growth of the industry, supported by Vietnam’s strong economy and the rise of the younger middle-class with higher spending power.

“The Vietnam Property Awards showcases the very best in the country’s real estate sector, whether a project is from an established developer or an up-and-coming firm, and we’re delighted to continue what we started here,” commented Blackburn, who is also publisher of Property Report, Asia’s industry-leading luxury real estate, architecture and design publication.

“Vietnam was the runaway winner at the first-ever Property Report Congress held in October, with majority of panelists from all over Southeast Asia choosing Vietnam as the most promising market to watch out for,” he said. “It will be exciting to see which new developments will be rewarded at next year’s awards ceremony.”

A total of 30 trophies will be handed out in 2016. Categories cover a range of segments, including condominium, housing/villa, hotel, office, and retail. Vietnam Property Awards entry is free, and participants will have until 1 April to submit entries in the various Developer, Development and Design categories.

All successful entries will be supervised by the award-winning team at BDO, one of the world’s largest accounting and auditing firms and the trusted awards supervisor of the Asia Property Awards, which, in its 11th year, is widely recognised for its fairness and transparency.

Outside of the award categories, the editors of Property Report will be presenting one additional award to the Real Estate Personality of Year, whose influence and achievements resonate across Vietnam. In 2015 the honour went to Nguyen Hoang Tuan, chairman and founder of SonKim Holdings Investment, who is backing the award-winning Gateway Thao Dien mixed-use project in HCMC’s District 2.
